Goulet Professional Translation Services has a team of about 15 translators and proofreaders who all perform in their own native language. Each one has unique skills and many have fascinating backgrounds.

Becoming a part of the Goulet Professional Translations Services team means passing a test designed by J. Éléonore Goulet herself.

"When I am looking for someone to do a project for me, looking at their qualification and their membership in professional associations is just the start," she said.

"I will give a new translator something to translate that directly relates to the first project they will do. Then I evaluate it myself. If the translator shows the ability to bring the true meaning through, and deliver on time then I will start using them," says Éléonore Goulet.

One French translator is a Quebec City lawyer who translates legal documents but also likes to work in different fields just for variety.

Another translator, once owned his own business and has a keen understanding of the business issues in translation.

Spanish translators working for Goulet Professional Translation Services include one who lives in Mexico City, another who is familiar with the dialect spoken by the Cuban community in Miami, and another who is proficient with the Argentinian idioms.

One of the Chinese translators now resides in Vancouver after living in Hong Kong for many years.

We have a Russian translator who has lived for the past 15 years in Toronto. "My Russian translator is very serious and has extraordinarily high standards," Éléonore said. "He sends everything he does to a proofreader who is still living in Russia to ensure that the cultural content of each translation rings true in a country that has changed a great deal since he left."

Special projects require people who are sometimes hard to find.

J. Éléonore Goulet sometimes takes on projects where it can take weeks to find someone who can do the job. "One good client of mine for whom we did an English into a Portuguese translation required a female translator-narrator who spoke Portuguese with an accent from the Southern part of Brazil," she says. "It took a full week of internet and phone calling, but I eventually tracked down someone who had those qualifications."
